Brand guide
Calm, precise, honest.
Snubber helps a skipper decide how much chain to let out. People's safety rests on its numbers, so the brand looks the way the app behaves: clear, quiet and exact, never louder than the physics.
Logo
The mark is an anchor whose right arm is the chain itself: a true catenary, flat at the crown and steepening towards the bow, ending at the snubber's hook, the amber dot. The wordmark is "snubber", lowercase, in Manrope ExtraBold. Use the files below as they are; never retype the wordmark.
Clear space
Keep at least the height of the wordmark's "s" free around the logo: no text, edge or picture inside it.
Minimum size
- Lockup: 96 px (24 mm) wide.
- Icon tile: 16 px; below 32 px use favicon.svg, whose mark is larger.
- The amber dot stays amber, even when everything else is one colour.
Do
- Use the colour logo on white, Foam and light photos; the reversed one on Night, Deep Sea and the sea gradient.
- Scale it as a whole.
- Let the app's real screens show the product.
Don't
- Redraw the chain as a straight line or a simple arc: it is a catenary.
- Recolour, stretch, rotate, outline or add shadows.
- Set "Snubber" in another typeface next to the mark.
- Put the colour logo on a busy or mid-tone background.
Colour
Sea colours carry the brand; amber is the snubber, the gusts and the warnings; red is kept for one thing only, gear that can't hold. The app uses the same values (Snubber.UI/Theme/AppTheme.cs).
Type
Manrope (SIL Open Font License) for the brand: the wordmark, the website and print. The app itself uses the phone's system font, so it feels native and works offline.
Manrope ExtraBold 800 · headings
23 m of chain, anchor to bow.
Manrope Regular 400 / Bold 700 · text
The chain lies flat on the seabed in the average wind and lifts in the gusts. Holds in 25 kn gusts.
Figures
Units always written, with a thin gap: 23 m · 15 kn · 3.8:1. Wind and gusts rounded up, never down.
Voice
Snubber talks like a calm, experienced skipper: short sentences, plain words, the number first.
Say
- "Let out 23 m of chain." The figure, then why.
- "Not equipped for this forecast", with the reason and what would help.
- Which end a length is measured from: anchor → bow.
- Where a figure comes from: the forecast model, its run, an estimate.
Never
- Promise safety: Snubber is a planning aid, the skipper decides.
- Reward less chain, streaks or speed.
- Hype: "ultimate", "revolutionary", exclamation marks.
- Round wind or gusts down.
